BNP2TKI (17/6) Dua orang mantan tenaga kerja Indonesia (TKI) yang pernah bekerja ke Korea (2003-2005), Warid Saefuddin (33) dan Castam (33) kembali mencoba peruntungan mengikuti ujian bahasa untuk bisa kembali bekerja ke Korea Selatan.
Kedua mantan TKI yang masih bersaudara itu berasal dari Desa Cipedang Kanem, Kec Bongas Rt. 09/ 03, Indramayu yakin mampu bersaing dengan 8539 peserta Ujian EPS TOPIK (Employment Permit System Test of Proficiency in Korea) atau tes kecakapan bahasa Korea di kampus IKOPIN Bandung, Minggu (17/6).
Selain Warid dan Castem, tentu banyak mantan TKI Korea dan ribuan peserta yang sebelumnya sudah ikut test namun belum lulus ujian EPS TOPIK pada tahun-tahun sebelumnya.
“Saya tidak ikut les bahasa Korea. 3 tahun kerja di Korea sudah cukup pengetahuan untuk ikut ujian kembali,” ujar Warid optimis.
Meski keduanya sudah tujuh tahun tidak belajar bahasa Korea, untuk mengingatkan bahasa Korea, mereka membeli buku-buku seputar soal-soal tes yang banyak dijual di toko buku.
Bagi Warid dan Castam, bekerja kembali ke Korea dari segi pendapan masih lebih menjanjikan daripada mengurus usaha kebun mangganya di Indramayu.
“Dengan sistem bakul atau ijon yang sudah berlangsung lama, mangga kami dibeli oleh tengkulak dengan harga murah yaitu Rp5000-Rp7000,” beber Warid.
Karena itu, setelah berfikir panjang keduanya pun memutuskan untuk mencari tambahan modal dengan bekerja kembali ke Korea.
Warid mengharapkan bisa mendapat tambahan modal untuk pengembangan tanaman jeruk nipis yang kini banyak dicari pembeli.
“Pergi ke Korea masih menjanjikan bagi pengembangan usaha kami,” ujar Castam sumringah.

YBM ECC is a joke.I chose YBM ECC in Busan for my first year teaching in Korea. After 5 years wornkig in Korea teaching ESL, YBM was by far the worst. You work way more hours than any other teacher in Korea and get paid the least. At some schools you also work on Saturdays. I was the only English teacher I met that worked on Saturdays. They will go on and on about how they are reliable and that is why you should consider wornkig with them. The contract you sign with them is a worthless, as they will interpret it however they see fit. Danny Kim will not help you at all if you have any trouble with contract interpretations, he only cares about recruiting for the company. While wornkig for YBM ECC, I was put in a deteriorated old bomb shelter for an apartment that I had to share with a roommate. The heat did not work during winter(which was very very cold), so the company gave us 3 heat fans to use. Our electric bill was over $500 for 1 month, which the company wanted us to pay for. We paid that bill and asked to be moved to an apartment with a heater. The company refused and we were forced to either freeze or pay $500/month heating bills. Another incident- Some kind of construction crew showed up to our apartment on Christmas Eve to dig up the floor and replace the heat pipes. This was done without notice, 3 hours before we had a party planned for Christmas. Another time the head teacher and director showed up at my apartment after I called in sick to make sure I wasn’t lying. I had just walked out of the shower and they had let themselves in to my apartment. While not all schools are like the one I mentioned, there is no point taking the risk with YBM. The only reason most people choose them is because of the reliable promise, but that is their way of paying less money to teachers.
